Day 1 of VBS, we had a typical morning with breakfast at the hotel and preparation for VBS. As we prepared to leave for Doicesti we packed the van with the team and the Manary family as well as all the supplies. When we arrived to Sora Magdalena's house we set up, got everything ready and waited for the kids to show up. Bro. Dave and I went around the corner to a store close by to pick up some snacks and to meet up and help guide an American man, Jim Walter, that Dave met last Friday to Sora Magdalena's house for vbs. He spends 6 months in Romania and 6 months in Washington and lives about an hour and a half from where the Manary's are originally from. What are the odds of that? He owns a home here in which he rents out to a foster home, and owns a home in America where he works as a computer programmer. He brought his daughter to day one of VBS, pray for future opportunities with him and the foster home. VBS started with some songs in Romanian then we broke the kids into 3 groups, one for the teaching part, one for the craft, and one for the games. Allison and Philip along with Amanda Manary did the face painting and crafts. Ariella and Christine worked with Sora Magdalena at the teaching station. Lori and I worked the games and Joy, a visitor staying with Manary's, helped with the snack! The first days lesson was on 2 Chronicles 34:8, 14-19, titled full Information, the truth about Gods Word. At the games station we had a hard time getting the little ones to participate in the games but as the day went on and we rotated stations the games got a lot better. The kids had a lot of fun, the hot spot was the face painting, the kids really loved that and it so happens that that will be our best advertisement for the VBS. There was a total of 34 kids at the VBS, and we had a couple unruly kids that definitely need Jesus. We might have to tie them up to get them to listen, their names are Christi and Valentine, pray specifically for them so God can touch their hearts. When we were done we dropped off sis Manary at home so that she could take care of baby MaKenna, then we went to the park to eat lunch. We spent a little bit of time at the park just relaxing after our first day of vbs and then headed to Targoviste to get supplies and snacks for the next couple days. When we finished getting everything together and made it back to the hotel the team took some time to sit at the restaurant at the hotel, have a coke, and chat about the day. We then headed back to the Manary's for dinner and one of our favorite parts, our devotional/testimony time. We had a great first day and are really looking forward to tomorrow's vbs. We told all of the kids if they bring their friends tomorrow to vbs, they will get extra candy, so we will see how many turn out for tomorrow!! Thank you all for praying for the team, we really feel them!!
